This fantasy-fiction, action-adventure novel is a collection of very short tales with surprise endings. The central character is a Voodoo Mambo from Harlem by way of New Orleans, named Esmeralda Dupree. All tales circle back to her. Her grandmother’s pre-Civil War journey from Haiti to New Orleans. Esmeralda’s travels from the South of America to New York during the turn of the century. Her son’s birth in New York. And the adventures this extremely talented but dangerous woman experiences during her century of living in America.

Each tale is short and to the point, leaving nothing to the imagination. A Disc Jockey causes a national panic during Halloween. A husband suspects his wife is having an affair. A son conspires to eliminate his mother to collect his inheritance. What do these short tales have in common? A loose connection to Esmeralda, culminating in a final tale called Family Reunion.

The stories should be read in sequence. There are sequels, and prequels, and prequels to the prequels. Yet all short tales end surprisingly, a challenge to the attentive reader. These five-minute reads will hook the reader to want more, as you strive to reach tales about the most dynamic yet dangerous woman in America.

Expect a shocking ending to a life-long search by Ms. Dupree. More shocking than any tale before or since.
